After eight weeks of work, learning and laughter, we say goodbye to our Peer Counselling training for Young Carers. These amazing young people, aged 12 to 18, chose to participate in the workshop because they wanted to make a difference and learn how to help others effectively.
Through theory, role-playing and discussions, we looked at the impact of non-judgemental listening and we supported the participants in developing their communication skills. We also looked at the role of empathy, compassion, questioning in supporting others. Every participant put a lot of energy into the activities and the atmosphere was very positive.
We were very happy to see them grow in confidence and make new friends. We are convinced that society will become what we encourage our young people to be. And these young people showed us that they have all the skills to become helpful, compassionate adults.
We are sad to say goodbye, but happy and feeling privileged to have had this opportunity!
